Joseph Preston (J.P.) Williams, Jr.

Joseph Preston (J.P.) Williams, Jr., 86 of Liberty, Texas passed away on January 13, 2020 at his residence. Joseph was born in Huntsville, Texas on March 13, 1933 to parents Joseph Preston Williams, Sr. and Dovie Nunley.

In 1952, Joseph enlisted in the United States Navy. After being honorable discharged, he remained in the Reserves for several years. For over thirty years, he worked for AT&T as a Repairman/Line Man. He also was a volunteer firefighter for City of Liberty for many years. Joseph loved to hunt, fish and read Western novels. He enjoyed traveling and camping. He loved his family immensely but most especially his grandchildren.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents; and his loving wife of forty-four years Evelyn Williams. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his son Claude Allen Williams and wife Mae; daughter Paula Dianne Arnold and husband Brian; daughter Barbara Ellen Cantu and husband Oscar; seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. In addition, he leaves behind numerous other loving family members and friends.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5-8pm on Thursday, January 16, 2020 in the chapel at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis, Liberty, Texas 77575. A graveside service and committal will be held at 11am on Friday, January 17, 2020 at Sweeney Cemetery in Sweeney.
