State Representative Ernest Bailes is formally announcing he will seek re-election for his fifth term, furthering his unwavering commitment to the residents of Hardin, Liberty, San Jacinto, and East Montgomery counties.
Reflecting on his tenure in the Texas House, Bailes emphasized a legacy marked by substantial victories and the fulfillment of promises made to constituents.
“I have remained steadfast in tirelessly representing House District 18, and I take pride in my solid conservative record,” Bailes said.
During the recent legislative session, Bailes passed, authored, and supported key pieces of legislation including the securing of over $5 billion for the construction of the southern border wall, strengthening law enforcement’s authority to deport illegal aliens, implementing the largest tax cut in Texas history, and advocating for a cost-of-living adjustment for retired Texas teachers.
Ernest Bailes has consistently been a proactive force in addressing critical issues. Recognizing the importance of connectivity for rural communities, he co-authored legislation to help provide reliable, high-speed internet access for underserved areas in Texas. Bailes has staunchly supported law enforcement, voting against any efforts to defund the police, and emphasizing the crucial role they play in maintaining public safety. In the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, Bailes helped Texans recover and rebuild, collaborating with local charities to establish shelters and distribution centers, and even orchestrating air drops of critical supplies for those in need.
Over the years, Bailes has garnered widespread support and endorsements from conservative leaders and organizations such as Texas Alliance for Life, the National Rifle Association, the Texas Association of Firefighters, the Texas Farm Bureau, the Texas Forestry Association, the Texas Association of Business, Texas Oil and Gas Association, and the Texas Cattle Raisers, among many others.
As a Member of the Texas House, Bailes has garnered priceless experience from appointments to influential committees, including Agriculture and Livestock, Corrections, Economic and Small Business Development, Energy Resources, Land and Resource Management, and Rules and Regulations. Presently, he serves as the Chairman of both the Texas Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus and the General Aviation Caucus.

Ernest Bailes, a lifelong rancher and agriculturalist, hails from the heart of East Texas where he was raised on his family’s dairy and beef cattle operations. Growing up in Shepherd, his roots in the agricultural landscape were planted, setting the stage for the journey to come.
In 2004, Ernest earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the esteemed Texas A&M University. Following graduation, he founded Repro Select, a groundbreaking company specializing in advanced reproductive services for cattle and whitetail deer producers across the south-central United States. Ernest is active in the community and serves on numerous boards and committees, including the San Jacinto Farm Bureau and the Texas Deer Association among others.

Ernest Bailes needs to be primaried and voted out. He has voted against the conservative values of his constituents when he sided with Dade Phelan and the Democrats by voting to impeach Ken Paxton. Ken Paxton, our duly elected Attorney General who has protected Texas citizens from much of Biden’s tyranny. Bailes also received money from Colony Ridge (Terranos Plum Grove) developer Trey Harris. Someone please step up and primary this guy. We deserve better representation.
Ken Paxton faced serious charges worthy of investigation. As a representative, Bailes does not vote on the verdict. If anything, you should be thankful that a Republican is willing to hold his party accountable and keep it clean. Trey Harris’s donation was small, whatever hit piece you read that riffed on it only truly proved one thing: politicans take donations. OH GEE, WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT?
The Paxton charges were bogus and we all knew it. Bailes was complicit with Drunk Dade Phelan in trying to overthrow our duly elected AG in an attempt to install Jeb Bush’s boy or another RINO to play ball with the Dems. Your argument about “the verdict “ is equivalent to throwing a man under the bus and blaming the bus for the tire marks.
The amount money he received from Trey Harris is only relevant to what he did to help out Colony Ridge, which he undoubtedly did. I don’t care if he sold out cheap or expensive. He still sold out .
