A 22-year-old Liberty man was seriously injured Tuesday evening, Feb. 6, in a three-vehicle crash on the 6000 block of SH 146 south of Dayton.

According to Lt. Eric Ibarra, a spokesperson for Dayton Police Department, a Dayton ISD school bus was stopped to let off the last student on the bus route when Brandon Webb, driving a 2023 silver Dodge pickup, clipped one stopped vehicle before crashing into the back of the bus.

The vehicle that was clipped was a white Dodge Ram pickup truck driven by Jonathan Sharbine, 31, of Livingston. Ibarra said that Sharbine, who had been parked behind the bus, had the foresight to realize that the silver Dodge pickup truck was traveling too quickly to stop and attempted to move out of the way.

Sharbine’s vehicle was clipped by Webb’s vehicle just before it crashed into the bus. Sharbine, as well as Dayton ISD bus driver, Michelle Fontenot, and an unnamed student, were not seriously injured in the crash. Sharbine was checked out at the scene by EMS and then released.

Webb was airlifted to a Houston area trauma center where he reportedly has already undergone a surgery for injuries to his legs. He is expected to survive, Ibarra said.

The accident is still under investigation, said Ibarra.

  1. Crazy this article says sharbine was checked out by ems when in fact neither him or the passenger of his vehicle were checked out by ANYONE. They were barely even spoken to by the officers. They then left them unattended stranded on the side of the road until family could get from Livingston to Dayton to pick them up.

  2. Even if excessive speed was involved it is pretty hard to not see a large school bus with all the flashing lights, unless you are not looking.
Hope he recovers and and grateful that more were not injured.

  3. All accidents are preventable. I’d bet money he was playing with his phone? I hope he learned a lesson the hard way. How can you not see a school bus with lights flashing? I’ll tell you how. He was looking down playing with his phone. I hope they charge him as he deserves. Idiot? Not sure? Stupid, irresponsible, yes.

  4. School bus on right side no lights on so wasn’t last stop. People assume ass-u-me
People lie. Most do there’s 1 in so many that don’t. People in law People that have position lie that have power and it’s stupid can’t believe nothing unless you see it are was there
