Dayton Dazzlers score in dance and academics

Dayton ISD Dazzlers represented Dayton with poise, beauty and respect this last weekend at the Crosby High School Competition. The team brought home many dance awards and were even recognized as the team with the highest GPA. 

Brittany Hinkle said, “These girls not only work hard in practice, but they still manage to keep their grades up.”

Dayton ISD is so proud of these young ladies. The Dazzlers will be competing in two additional  competitions on Feb. 24 and March 2. The Dazzlers will host their Spring Show on April 12 at 7 p.m. The team brought home the following awards:

Solos:

  • 3rd place overall Samantha Lawrence – Solo  9-10th grade division
  • 2nd place Cathryn Garza – Solo overall 11-12th grade division solo
  • Emily Gonzales High Scoring Solo
  • Division 1 Soloists Izzie Tripplet and Kiera Hyatt
  • Platinum Soloists Cathryn Garza (2), Samantha Lawrence, and Emily Gonzalez

Officer Awards:

  • Sweepstakes award
  • Officer Jazz Best in Category 1st Place
  • Officer Contemporary Best in Category 1st Place
  • Officer Novelty Best in Novelty 1st Place

Before creating Bluebonnet News in 2018, Vanesa Brashier was a community editor for the Houston Chronicle/Houston Community Newspapers.
