Cleveland man arrested after shooting at sister, her boyfriend

The Pinewood Trails subdivision in Cleveland, Texas, was disrupted by a shooting incident that resulted in the arrest of 21-year-old Alexis Mendez Garcia in the early hours of Tuesday, Feb. 27. Cleveland Police Department Officers Fleming and Neal responded to a report of a shooting at the 22,000 block of Black Spruce Dr., in Montgomery County.

Upon their arrival, officers encountered two individuals, a female and a male, who reportedly told police that Garcia fired a gun at them as they fled the scene. The altercation began in the kitchen, with Garcia allegedly getting into an altercation with the boyfriend over him keeping her away from her family.

The situation escalated when Garcia brandished a handgun and aimed it at the male, prompting the sister to intervene. Subsequently, both the sister and her boyfriend managed escaped through the front door, narrowly avoiding the gunfire, which struck the door with a bullet.

In the aftermath of the incident, Garcia’s reportedly began attacking the boyfriend’s vehicle, causing substantial damage to the windshield by striking it with his fist. It was later revealed that Garcia was in violation of a protective order issued by the Houston Police Department, in addition to being in possession of a firearm.

Garcia was apprehended by law enforcement and now faces charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, a second-degree felony, and Criminal Mischief, a misdemeanor. It was discovered that Garcia had an active protective order against him, specifically prohibiting him from possessing a firearm.

Cleveland Police Department’s CID-Detective Cooke and Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office were informed of the situation. Garcia was subsequently transported to the Montgomery County Jail.
