Local churches and organizations are bustling with activity as they prepare for an array of upcoming events, just in time for Easter, which is held this year on March 31, 2024.
The spirit of Easter is alive and well in our community, with an abundance of activities and gatherings to suit every preference. From traditional church services commemorating the resurrection of Christ to joyous Easter Egg hunts, local residents will find no shortage of ways to celebrate this special holiday.
Families can look forward to a diverse range of events, including Easter-themed crafts, games, and activities catered to children of all ages.
Whether you are seeking a touching church service to attend or an exciting Easter Egg hunt for your children, there are plenty of options available. Even if you don’t have a home church, local churches would be happy to see visitors at their services. Here are the Easter events that were shared with Bluebonnet News:
Saturday, March 16
The Sanctuary of Mont Belvieu is hosting an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 16. The hunt starts at 11 a.m. and is free to all who attend. There will be concessions, games and a photo op with the Easter Bunny. The church is located at 10530 Eagle Dr., Mont Belvieu.
Saturday, March 23
Cleveland First Baptist Church is hosting a Color Blast Easter with a color run, tie-dye and crafts on Saturday, March 23, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The church is located at 300 W. Hanson St., Cleveland.
Resurrection Ministries is hosting its 17 Annual Community-Wide Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 23, starting at 12 p.m., at Samuel Wiley Park, 1030 Green St., Cleveland. There will be food and fun for the entire family. There will be raffles for Easter baskets and prizes of boys and girls bikes and gift cards.
Bunny Blast, an annual event hosted by the City of Cleveland and the Cleveland Unity Committee, will be held at 10 a.m. at the Old City Park, 320 Hubert St., Cleveland. Thousands of eggs will be up for grabs. This is a free egg hunt for children ages 0-11.

Sunday, March 24
First Baptist Church Dayton, 202 E. Houston St., Dayton, is inviting everyone to a community meal and Easter celebration on Sunday, March 24, 6 p.m. The free meal will be pulled pork, sides, drink and a dessert. Kids’ games and crafts will be available, and four filled Easter baskets will be given away as door prizes.
Wednesday, March 27
Liberty Municipal Library, 1710 Sam Houston St, Liberty, invites children in the area to their Easter egg hunt and story time at 11 a.m. The Easter Bunny will also be there to pose for pictures at the conclusion of the event. Three lucky kids will find the special eggs for a free Easter basket filled with toys and candy!
Friday, March 29
Grace Church, 1935 N. Hwy 146, Liberty, is inviting the community to join a Good Friday Communion Service at 7 p.m.
First Baptist Church Dayton, 202 E. Houston St, Dayton, will hold a Good Friday service at 7 p.m. “Join us as we focus on Christ’s death by singing praises, reading Scripture and celebrating communion, all by candlelight,” according to the church’s announcement.
Saturday, March 30
The Third Annual First Liberty Bank Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Saturday, March 30. More than 20,000 candy-filled Easter eggs will be distributed on the football field at War Memorial Stadium, located at the intersection of Bowie Street and Grand Avenue in Liberty. Games and events start at 9 a.m. and the egg hunt starts at 10 a.m.
Texas Craft Fair is holding its first annual egg hunt on March 30. Time to be announced. The address is 3300 U S Highway 190 W, Livingston, Texas.
Plum Grove Assembly of God Church is hosting an Easter Egg hunt on Saturday, March 30, at 11 a.m. The church is located at 931 FM 2090, Splendora.
First Baptist Church Dayton, 202 E. Houston St., Dayton, is hosting an Easter Egg-stravaganza from 10 a.m. to noon. There will be games, snow cones, popcorn, bouncy house/slide, and snacks, and sharing the good news of Jesus.
The Sanctuary Church of Cleveland, 100 E. Hanson St., is hosting a Kids Spring Festival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be hot dogs, popcorn, cotton candy, inflatables and games. This is a free event. For more information, call 601-341-5618.
Cornerstone Church, 27453 SH 105 W, Cleveland, is hosting a free Easter Egg hunt featuring 12,000 eggs, starting at 10 a.m. There are three ages groups – 1-3, 4-6, and 7-11.
New Life Church, 3056 FM 1008, Dayton is hosting a Community Wide Easter Egg Hunt at 10:30 a.m. There will be an egg hunt, and many other family fun offerings including games, bouncers, firetrucks, hot dogs, popcorn, food and fun for the entire family! The egg hunt section will be 0-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12 and Special Needs.
Liberty Church, 200 FM 2025, Cleveland will have two Creative Arts Productions of “Be Still”, at 4 and 7 p.m.
Easter Sunday, March 31
Grace Church, 1935 N. Hwy 146, Liberty, is holding two services, 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. The kids ministry is always an active and exciting place for children, ages pre-K through fifth grade. FBC Livingston has several events, as well as special Easter services, that differ from normal service times. The Easter Sunday service times are 8, 9:30 and 11 a.m. The church is located at 106 Colt Road, Livingston, Texas.
Lifepoint Church in Daisetta is hosting a special Easter Sunday service on Sunday, March 31, with the service starting at 10 a.m. An egg hunt will follow the church service. The church is located at 505 Utah, Daisetta, Texas.
The Family Church, 9456 Hwy 146 N, Hardin, is holding 10 a.m. classes and an 11 a.m. service with an egg hunt and candy rain to follow the service. Everyone is invited.
Church That Cares, 21 CR 2281, Cleveland (Tarkington) is hosting a Glow Fest Glow Egg Scramble with prize eggs, candy bags and activity booths. The Glow Fest will follow the Easter Sunday service. Church time is 10 a.m.
First Baptist Church Dayton, 202 E. Houston St., is hosting Resurrection Sunday service at 10:30 a.m. Everyone is invited to a wonderful celebration of the risen Christ.
The Sanctuary Church of Cleveland, 100 E. Hanson St., Cleveland is hosting a special service titled Because He Lives at 11 a.m.
Liberty Church, 200 FM 2025, Cleveland will have two Creative Arts Productions of “Be Still”, at 9 and 11 a.m.
