Liberty Jubilee set to bring two days of fun to downtown area

One of the most anticipated events in Liberty is approaching swiftly, as the much-celebrated Liberty Jubilee is set to take place on Friday and Saturday, March 22-23. Located in the heart of downtown Liberty, Texas, this event promises to be fun for all attendees.

The festivities kick off with a street dance on Friday, from 8 p.m. to midnight, featuring Carson Jeffrey and special guest Mason Lively.

Carson Jeffrey, of Cat Spring, Texas, is a cowboy-turned-singer who is capturing the hearts of Texans with his authentic cowboy spirit and captivating musical talent. Jeffrey immerses himself in ranching duties during the week and enchants audiences with his music on weekends. With more than 100 shows a year across the Southern region, Carson is a well-known figure at popular college bars including The Tap in College Station and The Blue Light in Lubbock, where his performances consistently draw eager crowds.

The 25-year-old Texas A&M graduate released his much-anticipated third album, Fair Weather Cowboy, in November 2022. Each song, penned by Carson himself, delves into themes of “growth, loneliness, and letting loose,” inviting fans to connect with his personal journey, according to his bio.

Country/Americana artist Mason Lively, hailing from Victoria, Texas, brings a unique blend of simplicity and complexity, with a sound that effortlessly captures a range of emotions. Influenced by a diverse array of music genres from a young age, including country classics and rock legends, Lively’s passion for songwriting blossomed as he delved into the Texas music scene. After making his musical debut with the album “Stronger Ties” in 2018, Lively has since continued to captivate audiences with his sophomore self-titled album, co-produced by Wade Bowen. Now based in Austin, Texas, his ever-evolving music continues to resonate with fans, promising a bright future in the world of Country Music and beyond, according to his bio.

Mason Lively will be a featured artist at the Liberty Jubilee Street Dance and Concert on Friday, March 22.

The kickoff dance and concert are free. The stage will be set up on Travis Street between the Liberty County Courthouse and City Hall, located at 1829 Sam Houston Ave., Liberty.

Attendees can look forward to a diverse range of activities, including arts and craft booths, a carnival, a barbecue cookoff, and an opportunity to try their hand at a mobile axe throwing booth. Adding to the excitement, there will be a book sale and dunking booth featuring Liberty firefighters.

On Saturday, more events will be added to the lineup including a fun run/walk, and a car show to captivate visitors of all ages. One of the highlights of the jubilee is the inclusion of Gator Country, promising an unforgettable experience. Also on Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., live music will be performed from the concert stage by Dwayne McCarty from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., Doc Holliday from 12:45 to 2 p.m., The Allstar Zydeco Band from 2:30 to 3:45 p.m., and the Justin Kemp Band from 4:15 to 5:30 p.m.

The awards for the barbecue cookoff contest will be announced on the stage between 5:30 and 6 p.m., when the Jubilee event winds down.

The festival grounds are located between the Liberty County Courthouse and Liberty City Hall, located at 1829 Sam Houston Ave., Liberty. The festival grounds extend down the street to the Humphreys Cultural Center Area, where the book sale and Gator County shows will be held.

While there is no charge to attend Jubilee, there are costs associated with the carnival rides as well as purchases made at food booths and arts and craft booths. Arm bands providing access to the carnival rides will be sold for $25 per day.

  1. Jubilee is getting more White every year.Two days of White Heritage. I thank Republicanns for the great job of fixing roads in Liberty an allowing Colony Ridge to form a population of 40 thousand mostly illegals in Northern Liberty County.

  2. Andy I don’t know why you are complaining, there is Black history month for the Black people and we have Cinco de Mayo for the Mexicans…but what holiday do we have for the white people?
