Shooting incident in Montgomery County under investigation

In the early hours of April 8, 2024, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Deputies swiftly responded to an assault with a firearm incident in the 21000 block of Old Sorters Road, Porter, Texas.

Preliminary information revealed that a firearm had been discharged during a disturbance, resulting in one male with a gunshot wound to the arm being transported to a local hospital by friends.

As deputies arrived, they were informed that a vehicle potentially linked to the shooting had fled the area. The vehicle in question was successfully located and inside they found a person with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Deputies immediately administered life-saving measures while waiting for Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to arrive. The injured person was transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment.

Detectives from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Homicide and Violent Crimes Unit, accompanied by Crime Scene Investigators, arrived on the scene and are currently investigating the crime scene. Their primary focus is on identifying a suspect and determining the circumstances that led to shooting.

Due to the ongoing and active nature of the investigation, detailed information is currently withheld.
