Sattler announces candidacy for Liberty City Council

Greg Sattler

Greg Sattler has stepped forward as a candidate for Liberty City Council in the May 4 election. Having established roots in Liberty County in 1979, Sattler first lived in Dayton and attended Dayton High School. In 1991, he transitioned to being a resident of the city of Liberty and has remained a steadfast member of the community ever since, now a resident near the Whittington Addition on the south side of Liberty.

Sattler resides with his wife and is the proud parent of five children and grandparent to nine grandchildren. He also is a proud member of the Liberty Masonic Lodge.

With a career spanning more than 40 years in the construction industry, Sattler brings experience in various sectors including residential construction, commercial developments, and a predominant focus in the oil & gas industry.

“I have managed budgets from $1,000 to $6 billion. I have executed large scale, multifaceted complex projects and maintenance programs in the private and public sectors,” Sattler said. “I would like to see a comprehensive plan to get ahead of the infrastructure issues we face.  Yes, many issues pop up and are unavoidable, however, a good solid plan with consideration of ‘break in work’ is attainable and can offer efficiencies.”

Furthermore, Sattler intends to advocate for the accountability of City employees paid through taxpayer funds and a meticulous review of the Permit and Inspections Department, with the aspiration of fostering a more supportive environment for residents and newcomers alike.

“The City has some great employees, however, every organization is susceptible to a rogue employee.  My years of managing large and small work forces will be an asset to the City Employees who perform,” he said. “City Council needs to take a long hard look The Permit and Inspections Department.  The City of Liberty does not lend a helping hand when it comes to residents (taxpayers) of the City, and it certainly does not make it very inviting for newcomers to Liberty.”

His overarching goal is to not only prepare for anticipated growth but also to cultivate an environment conducive to attracting new businesses to the City.

“As we watch our neighbors to the west growing at record speed, we must prepare ourselves for the future.  Not only prepare for the potential growth but also develop incentives to bring new businesses to the City,” Sattler said.
