Joel Keith LaPointe, age 45, of Dayton, Texas, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2024. Joel was born on September 21, 1978, in Denison, Texas, to Floyd Wayne LaPointe and the late Charlotte Stone LaPointe.
Joel was an avid sports fan, deeply devoted to the Houston Astros and the Houston Texans. He found immense joy in following his son Gage’s baseball career and was heavily involved in supporting him. Known as the baby of the family, Joel was a strong, caring, and family-oriented individual with a genuine, funny nature. He was a hard worker who selflessly helped care for his mother in her later years. Joel’s loving, faithful, and loyal spirit, combined with his heart of gold, left a lasting impact on everyone he met.
Joel is preceded in death by his mother, Charlotte LaPointe; his paternal grandparents, Dudley and Lula Mae LaPointe; his maternal grandparents, C.E. and Blanche Stone; his nephew, Bailey Gully; and his aunt, Sherry Elkurd and numerous aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his father, Floyd Wayne LaPointe of Dayton; his lifelong love and soulmate, Michelle Nelson of Dayton, Texas; his son, Gage LaPointe of Crosby, Texas; his sister, Christi Gully, and husband, Kyle of Mineola, Texas; his brother, Roy LaPointe, and wife Trish, of Hawkins, Texas; his sister, Cissy Clearo, and husband, Bob, of Dayton; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
A visitation will take place on Friday night, May 24, 2024, from 6 PM to 8 PM at Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main Street, Dayton, Texas 77535. Services will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at 10 AM at Sterling Funeral Home. Committal will follow the service on Saturday at Earthman Memorial Garden in Baytown, Texas.
Joel will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
