
Becky Sue Laird, 65, of Hankamer, Texas, passed away peacefully at her residence on Friday, May 31, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 7, 1958, in Liberty, Texas, to the late Henry Lee and Gladys Mildred Rockman Tanton.
Becky was a dedicated homemaker who adored her family beyond measure and took immense pride in their accomplishments. Known for her crazy, funny, and sarcastic nature, Becky was also incredibly loving. She enjoyed watching television shows like Dr. Pol, Live PD, and crime or home makeover shows. She also loved adult coloring, yard sales, and eating hollow chocolate rabbits at Easter time. Her favorite hobby was spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Becky was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Jeremy Spurgeon; and her siblings, Bobby Joe Tanton, Cooter Tanton, Jesse Tanton, Dunn Tanton, Ann Marcontell, Velea E. Whitmire, and Judy Tanton.
She leaves behind to cherish her loving memory her husband, Robert Laird of Hankamer; her children, Kandy Ann Perry and husband Donnie of Hankamer, Savanna Brook Sanders of Hankamer, and Dennis Wayne Lee and wife Michelle of Devers; her grandchildren, Hayley Brook Spurgeon, Hunter Nolan Spurgeon, Hayden James Spurgeon, Bailey Ann Thompson and fiancé Clayton Thomas Watts, Madeline Jolie Sweeten and significant other Shane Brown, Brian Decota Sweeten, Cassondra Rose Sweeten and significant other Jake Cates, Dalten Lane Lee, and significant other Kaylan Garrison, and Ashley Dale Lee; her great-grandchildren, Oakley Paige Cochran, Braylon Owen Brown, Leanna Brown, Nathan Bailey Brown, and one on the way; her siblings, Bill Tanton and Betty Jo Cotton; her daughter-in-law Jenny Spurgeon; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
A celebration of Becky’s life will be held at 6pm, on Saturday, June 15, 2024, in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main Street in Dayton, Texas.
By Becky’s wishes, she will be cremated and remembered by all as the loving, funny, crazy, and sarcastic woman that she was. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
