The Dayton Youth Sports Association (DYSA) is sending four out of five age divisions of girls’ softball to the State Tournament.

Over the past two weekends, these talented teams competed fiercely, securing their spots through the district tournament. The 6U and 10U teams emerged as District Champions, while the 8U and 12U teams finished as District Runner-ups.

Historically, Dayton has always had representation at the State level, but this year’s achievement may mark a new pinnacle of success for the city’s youth softball program.

This remarkable success story coincides with the final year of service from Chrissy Wiley, vice president of softball for DYSA. Wiley has played a pivotal role in the growth and development of the sport within Dayton.

Her dedication is evident in the countless hours she has invested in the program, from organizing off-season clinics to bringing in specialized hitting, fielding, and pitching coaches. Her leadership has been instrumental in creating a nurturing environment for the young athletes, enhanced even more through the dedicated parents and coaches with DYSA.

As the teams head to the State Tournament, they carry with them the hopes and support of an entire community, eager to cheer them on to victory.
