A milestone few achieve, Pat and Peggy Jeannine Adams are celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary, marking a life filled with love, commitment, and cherished memories.

The couple was married on June 26, 1954, at the tender age of 19, in a ceremony at First Methodist Church in Cleveland, Texas. Their story is one of dedication and enduring affection.

Pat Adams, a Cleveland native, graduated from Cleveland High School in 1953, where he excelled in both baseball and football. Jeannine, originally from Abilene, Texas, graduated from Abilene High School in 1952, distinguishing herself academically. She spent her summers in Cleveland with her grandparents, where fate would have her meet Pat in the summer of 1953. The two quickly fell in love and were married the following summer.

Pat and Peggy Adams, former longtime residents of Cleveland, Texas, are celebrating 70 years of marriage.

After their wedding, Pat served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. The couple moved to Altoona, Penn., but their hearts remained in Texas. In 1958, they returned to their home state, ensuring their legacy as “Native Texans” was passed on to their children. Their oldest daughter, Angela Adams, was born in Cleveland, Texas, in 1956.

They made a special trip home for her birth to ensure her “Native Texas” roots. Their son, Neil Adams, was born in Brownwood, Texas, in 1960 but tragically passed away in a line-of-duty shooting in 2022, while serving as a San Jacinto County sheriff’s deputy. Their youngest daughter, Laurel Adams Hintz, born in Houston in 1965, currently resides in Katy, Texas, with her husband, Ross.

Pat and Jeannine’s family has grown over the years, with three beloved grandchildren: Anne Jeannine Davis (Angela’s daughter), and Alex and Ryan Hintz (Laurel and Ross’s sons).

The Adams, who now live in Houston, have shared a passion for ballroom dancing and have enjoyed traveling across the United States with their family. When asked about the secret to their long-lasting marriage, they simply say, “It’s consideration and love.”
