
George “Johnny” Lovell Johnson, age 84, of Liberty, Texas, passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday, June 27, 2024. He was born on October 12, 1939, in Galveston, Texas, to the late Lovell and Virginia Dauzet Johnson, living with love, faith, and dedication.
Johnny was a former member of Calvary Baptist in Moss Bluff and a devoted member of Riding with Christ Cowboy Ministries in Raywood, Texas. Known for his fun-loving and outgoing nature, Johnny was a hard-working family man who deeply valued his faith and, most of all, his family.
Johnny’s hobbies were a testament to his love for the outdoors and adventurous spirit. He cherished every moment spent on his ranch, where he found joy working with cows, bailing hay, and riding horses. His connection to nature and animals was evident in how he managed his ranch and cared for his livestock. But above all, Johnny was a dedicated family man. He loved spending time with his family, often involving them in various outdoor pursuits. His dedication to his children’s interests and activities was unwavering, always finding time to support and engage in whatever they enjoyed.
Johnny’s dedication to his faith was the cornerstone of his life. A God-fearing man, he was deeply grateful for the blessings he received and demonstrated his commitment to the Lord in all he did. He was actively involved in his church communities, first at Calvary Baptist and later at Riding with Christ Cowboy Ministries, where he found a spiritual home that resonated with his love for the cowboy way of life. His faith was not just a part of his life but the guiding force behind his actions, decisions, and interactions with others. He was known for his kindness, generosity, and willingness to help those in need, reflecting the teachings of Christ in his daily life.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents; children Stacy Ann Johnson and Johnny Lovell Johnson; grandchildren Amanda Johnson and David Mainor; his beloved wife of 45 years, Patsy Cunningham Johnson; and son-in-law Troy Vaughn. He leaves behind to cherish his loving memory his children, Dwayne Johnson and wife Leanne, Rhonda Renee Mainor and husband Eddie, and Angela Vaughn and husband Damian Constance. He is also survived by his sister, Wanda Jones, and other loving relatives and friends.
Dwayne Johnson, Eddie Mainor, Dwayne Johnson, Jr., Damian Constance, Scott Carr, and Troy Vaughn, III, will be pallbearers honoring Johnny.
Friends are invited to visit with the family beginning at 10 AM on Monday, July 1, 2024, in the chapel of Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Street in Liberty. A funeral will follow at 11 AM at the funeral home, with Pastor Phil Baragas officiating. A graveside service and committal will immediately follow in the Johnson Family Cemetery in Moss Bluff.
Johnny’s legacy of love, dedication, and faith will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His passion for the ranch, enthusiasm for life, and commitment to his family and faith are memories that all will cherish. His life was a testament to his unwavering belief in the Lord, and his legacy will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.



What a loss for this world, but such a gain in Heaven. I’ve never met anyone like him and clung to every word he ever said to me. I wish there were more like him!
