A tragic drowning occurred on Lake Conroe on the evening of July 4, 2024. At approximately 8:59 p.m., the Montgomery County Dispatch Center received a 911 call reporting a female who had fallen off a boat near Scott’s Ridge Boat Ramp, just north of FM 1097. Initial reports indicated that several individuals entered the water in an attempt to rescue her but were unsuccessful.
Responding to the call, the Montgomery County Precinct 1 Marine Division, Texas Parks and Wildlife Game Wardens, Montgomery County Hospital District, North Montgomery Fire Department, and Conroe Fire Department arrived promptly.
After several hours of searching, rescue and recovery divers located the woman, who remains unidentified, at approximately 11:30 p.m.
Due to the circumstances of the incident, Texas Parks and Wildlife Game Wardens have taken the lead in the investigation, with assistance from the Precinct 1 Constable’s Office.
Constable Philip Cash extended his deepest condolences to the victim’s family and friends, emphasizing the importance of using life safety equipment, such as personal flotation devices, when on the water. He reminded everyone that life jackets save lives, regardless of one’s swimming expertise.
The investigation is ongoing, and Texas Parks and Wildlife will release additional information as it becomes available.
