Calvin Lee Kraeer

Calvin Lee Kraeer, 67, of Dayton, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, in Baytown, Texas. He was born on January 8, 1957, in Killeen, Texas, to the late John Calvin and Evelyn Jean Kimbrough Kraeer.

Calvin graduated from Ross S. Sterling High School in Baytown, Texas, in 1975 and spent many years until his retirement as a dedicated union worker for Texas Iron Workers Local Union 84. In his younger years, he loved hunting, and throughout his life, he enjoyed fishing, garage sales, and reselling items he collected. He cherished camping and fishing trips to Lake Travis and Sam Rayburn, spending time in nature with his family and friends.

Known for his sense of humor and stubborn nature, Calvin was a family-oriented man who believed he was a comedian. He had a hippie soul and a free spirit, enjoying classic rock music, sitting outside under his big tree, and being a loyal Astros fan.

Calvin was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Susan Rosalie Jones; and his second wife, Alana Barnett. He leaves behind to cherish his loving memory, his children, Justin Lee Kraeer and wife Stephanie of Dayton, John Russell Kraeer of Dayton, Jennifer Marie Kraeer and husband Stanley Mitchell of Mont Belvieu, and Jessica Lea Kraeer Harder and husband Paul of Dayton. His grandchildren also survive him, Elissa Marie Mitchell and Emma Lynne Mitchell; his brother, Carl Edward Kraeer and wife Trish of Dayton; his nephews, Carl Edward Kraeer, Jr. and Christopher Lee Kraeer; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5 PM to 6 PM on Friday, July 19, 2024, in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main Street in Dayton. At 6 PM, a celebration of Calvin’s life will follow in the chapel.
