Liberty County Pct. 6 Constable’s Office is teaming up with the Houston Humane Society to host a free pet vaccination clinic and pet pantry in Cleveland on Thursday, July 18. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at The Sanctuary Church parking lot, located at 100 E. Hanson St.
Houston Humane Society personnel, along with community volunteers and support from the Pct. 6 Constable’s Office, will be on-site to provide vaccines, microchips, and flea treatments for up to 100 dogs and 50 cats. The services will be administered on a first-come, first-served basis.
Vaccinations are crucial for maintaining the health of pets and preventing the spread of infectious diseases. By ensuring that pets are vaccinated, owners can protect their animals from illnesses such as rabies, distemper, and parvovirus, which can be life-threatening and costly to treat. This community event aims to make these essential vaccines accessible to all pet owners, regardless of their financial situation.
For those in need of pet food, the event will also offer dry kibble for dogs and both kibble and wet food for cats, while supplies last. The distribution is designed to support the general population in caring for their pets, and there are no income-based requirements for participation.
All services and supplies are free.
The event is co-hosted by the Constable’s Office and the Houston Humane Society, which has partnered with Petco Love and Greater Good Charities to bring these services to the community. This marks the third time the constable’s office has collaborated on this event, according to Constable Zack Harkness.
Attendees are advised to keep their dogs on leashes and their cats in carriers to prevent mishaps or lost pets.
