Byron Ronald Swaim

Byron Ronald Swaim, 86, passed away on July 17, 2024.   He was a highly respected man of many accomplishments and interests. He was born Nov. 17, 1937, in Houston, Texas, to parents Tedrow Swaim, Sr., and Alsie Swaim.  He received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston and worked as an accountant in industry with travels around the world.  

He became a Certified Public Accountant in 1962.  He subsequently moved his family to Hardin, Texas, and started a CPA practice over 40 years ago. Soon thereafter, he also became a trusted financial advisor.  Byron worked in this profession in this place until his retirement in 2023.  Many knew him as an accomplished speaker; his voice and mannerisms spoke with sincerity and integrity.  He loved the community, the people, and TAX SEASON.

Byron thoroughly enjoyed traveling around the country and the world.  He was adventurous and well informed on many subjects.  As a result, he never met a stranger.  Above all, he enjoyed his friends and his family. He always made himself available to them.  He will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know him.

Byron was preceded in death by his parents.  He is survived by his wife, Florine Swaim; his daughters Kathy Swaim, Shelley Swaim and Julie Poe; his sons Sy Saxton (Nikki) and Stacy Saxton (Amy); and his brother Tedrow Swaim, Jr. (Karen).  He is also survived by his eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services for Byron R. Swaim will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 11 a.m., at Allison’s Funeral Service in Liberty, Texas.  Visitation will precede the service beginning at 10 am.  In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations in Byron’s memory to St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital or Alzheimer’s Research Foundation.
