Jaden Parrish, a 20-year-old angler from Moss Hill, Texas, has accomplished a lifelong dream by qualifying for next year’s Bass Pro Tour. This significant achievement marks a new chapter in his fishing career.
To earn a spot in the Bass Pro Tour, Parrish had to navigate a highly competitive selection process. The tour, which features 60 anglers, extends invitations based on top performances in other circuits, standings in lower-tier tournaments, and sometimes special qualifications or wildcard entries.
Parrish believes he will be the youngest angler at next year’s Bass Pro Tour, which starts in January 2025 and ends in September 2025. The Angler of the Year will be decided by the competitors with the highest cumulative weight of five fish every day throughout the nine competitive tournaments next year.

Parrish secured his spot with a strong performance at the St. Claire, Minn., tournament, where he placed seventh with a cumulative five-day weight of 64.4 pounds.
Looking toward next year’s Bass Pro Tour, Parrish said, “I’ve just got to stay humble and keep fishing to the best of my abilities and try to see where I stack up against the other 59 best anglers in the world.”
When asked how he finds the best locations to fish during the tournament, Parrish explained that competitors are given three days in advance of the tournament to fish the lakes where the tournaments are held. Since he has been fishing most of his life, Parrish says he has developed an affinity for finding bass as he understands their habits and habitats.
“I’ve been doing it for so long, so when we have those three practice days before the tournament, I pretty much go on the lake and find the places where I think the best fish populations will be. Then I return there to fish during the tournament,” he said. “You can kind of watch them. It’s kind of like playing a video game for me.”
Parrish is still working out his list of sponsors for the tournament, but chief among them will be his family’s business, Chubby’s Meat Packing.
“I am really grateful for my parents supporting me and being there with me for the highs and lows,” he said. “It’s been a roller coaster ride.”
While he would love to fish as a career, Parrish also hopes to carry on his family business once his parents, Cody and Angie, and his grandfather, Chubby Parrish, decide to fully retire. His father is also the Liberty County Pct. 3 Justice of the Peace. For now, the younger Parrish pitches in to help when and where he can.
“When I am home, I am doing whatever my dad wants me to do. Today, it’s cutting hay. But I help at the market and just help with whatever my dad tells me to do. I try to keep the stress off of him. My dad has been my idol all my life and I would love to do exactly what he does, while still having time for fishing,” he said.
Parrish is a 2022 graduate of Hardin High School. His sister, Jacee, is a sophomore at HHS.
