Matthew Dean Young

Matthew Dean Young passed from this life on Sunday August 4, 2024. Going before him was his Grandpa A.E. “Sonny” McWhorter. His uncle Stephen Todd McWhorter, and his Great Grandparents Aubrey and Dorothy Young; and Gladys McWhorter. Survivors include Jana and Jerren Young, parents; Sister Sarah Jaime and Husband Jonathan, Brother, Jacob Young Grandparents, Alice Gay Young and Eld John P Young, Grandmother Jan Tabet. Niece Eva Jaime and Nephew Elijah Zetik. Along with Aunts Uncles and Cousins.

We received a late Christmas gift in 1992 in the form of a little Red Headed Boy. Our Mighty Matt grew quickly and through kindergarten, baseball, and FFA projects named Maybelline, filled our lives with joy and laughter. As he was growing up, his sense of humor was so intense that we struggled to keep a straight face while scolding him about some infraction that Dads and Moms everywhere scold little boys about.

After graduating from Barbers Hill High School in 2010, he raised his right hand and volunteered to serve both his country and his fellow soldiers as a Medic in the US Army. He served overseas as a 68W Combat Medic in Afghanistan and was honorably discharged after a long recuperation at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio. He lived out the rest of his life in Old River Winfree where he grew up. Matthew Dean Young eventually fell in his battle with the demons of war that follow many of our veterans home on August 4, 2024. He passed while asleep. We are comforted by the fact that those demons may have won the battle, but our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ won the war on his behalf long ago.

We love our Son and will see him again someday; but until then, rest in Heavenly Peace.

With Love,

Jerren and Jana Young
