Winnie Charlene Smith-Friar was born December 17, 1929, in Pledger, Texas, to parents, Charles Wesley Henderson and Erma Aline Dunn Henderson. She passed away August 20, 2024, in Porter, Texas, at the age of 95.
Winnie loved attending church and in her younger years she enjoyed sewing and bowling. She had a great passion for the outdoors, especially fishing. Her greatest joy in her life was for her family. Winnie loved raising her 3 children and doted on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by everyone that knew and loved her.
Winnie was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Wesley and Erma Aline Henderson; beloved husband, Elmo Smith; son, Charles Smith; grandson, Baby Charles; daughter, Teresa Colvin; son-in-law, Billy Colvin; 2nd husband, Joe Friar; brothers, William Henderson, Morgan Henderson, and D-Boy Henderson; sister, Alice Brownshield.
She is survived by her son, Wayne Smith and wife Meredith Smith; grandchildren, Kelly Joe Smith and wife Jennifer Smith, Sara Smith Alonso, Kalor Smith and wife Kristen Smith; great-grandchildren, Kaylen Smith, Kelsi Alonso, and Koltin Alonso.
Visitation will be in the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, August 24, 2024 from 12-2pm. Funeral Service will begin at 2pm with Pastor Tim Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the White Oak Cemetery in Porter, Texas.
Pallbearers for the service will be, Koltin Alonso, Kalor Smith, Kelly Joe Smith, Justin Sutherland, Russell Henderson, Scott Stone. Honorary Pallbearers will be, David Henderson and Victor Carriveau.
