Janice Ann Winford Findley

Janice Ann Winford Findley, 85, of Huffman, Texas, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on August 30, 2024. Born on April 24, 1939, in Craighead County, Arkansas, Janice was the cherished daughter of Clarence Winford and Gladys Hendricks Winford. She lived in Huffman for the past 30 years, following her time in Humble, and became an integral part of the community.

A dedicated member of the First Baptist Church of Huffman, Janice was known for her unwavering commitment and enthusiasm. She played a vital role in planning events, volunteering, and providing meals for church members, embodying the spirit of service and generosity.

Janice had a zest for life that was evident in her many passions. She enjoyed soaking up the sun, cooking for others, shopping for clothes and jewelry, and indulging in the thrill of gambling. Her love for antiques and knick-knacks brought warmth and character to her home, which was always immaculately styled. Janice took great joy in creating memories with her family, including building a pool for her grandchildren and friends to enjoy. Her home was a place of laughter, love, and cherished moments, and she was affectionately known as the “cool grandma” for her spirited stories and playful nature.

Her grandchildren fondly remember her as a loving, strong, and unique individual who enriched their lives with her faith and wisdom. Her grandson recounts how she guided him to the church and to the Lord, a testament to her deep and lasting impact.

Janice is preceded in death by her parents and all of her siblings. She is survived by her devoted husband of 63 years, Rothel Findley; her sons, Roy Findley and Kenneth Allen Findley and his wife Debbie; her daughter, Delynne Luckey; her grandchildren, Chrissy Wiley and her husband Marshall, Chuck Findley, Haley Findley, Samuel Luckey and his wife Emma; her great-grandchildren, Marshall Wiley Jr., Jenna Wiley, Samuel Luckey II, and Amelia Luckey; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 7, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Huffman, followed by a service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will take place at the Huffman Cemetery. The service will be led by Pastor Mike Martin. Pallbearers will include Marshall Wiley, Jr., Robert Findley, David Martin, with honorary pallbearers Chuck Findley and Roy Findley.

Janice will be remembered for her boundless spirit, her loving heart, and the indelible mark she left on those fortunate enough to know her.
