The Liberty Municipal Library has met all the requirements to be fully accredited for the Texas Library System for the upcoming fiscal year, which runs from Sept. 1, 2024, through Aug. 31, 2025.
This accreditation comes with a badge that the library can proudly display on its website, in the building, or even as a window cling.
With this accreditation, Liberty Municipal Library will have access to statewide perks like interlibrary loan services (ILL), discounts through the federal E-rate program for telecommunications, and more funding opportunities.
The library will also continue to participate in the TexShare Card and TexShare Databases programs, giving patrons a wider range of resources to enjoy.
Additionally, submitting an Annual Report means the library will get free materials for its Summer Library Program and have access to the E-Read Texas program, which offers a curated collection of e-books statewide.
The achievement was announced at the Liberty City Council meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 10, by City Manager Tom Warner, who credited the library staff and Head Librarian Amber Ursprung, who was applauded by Council.
Liberty Municipal Library is located at 1710 Sam Houston Ave., Liberty, inside the Geraldine D. Humphreys Cultural Center. The hours of operation are Monday – Thursday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday 1-5 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
