Jimmy Allen Davis, 86, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, September 19, 2024, in Beaumont, Texas. Jimmy was born on February 27, 1938, in Liberty, Texas, to the late Raymond Ammie “Bud” Davis and Minnie Modona Fregia Davis.
Jimmy lived life to the fullest, enjoying the outdoors through his love for fishing and hunting. He was an avid motorcyclist and had a special bond with his dogs. Known for his cooking, Jimmy often brought friends and family together for fish fries. He was hardworking and dedicated to his family, always lending a helping hand to fellow farmers during harvest season. Jimmy’s meticulous care of his farming equipment was a testament to his attention to detail—everything was cleaned and waxed before it was put to use.
A true storyteller, Jimmy was sociable and made a point to stop for coffee every morning. His generosity and warmth extended to many, and he was always ready to assist others.
In addition to his love of farming, Jimmy was a man of faith and service. He spent 20 years as the local Precinct 2 Constable before retiring in 2000. He was a lifelong resident of Raywood, Texas, where he attended First Baptist Church and served as the song leader. Jimmy was also the founding fire chief of the Raywood Volunteer Fire Department, which he started alongside his brother Ronnie. He was a member of the American Rice Growers of America and the NRA. Notably, Jimmy was honored as a First American Farmer with Liberty FFA, a testament to his dedication and leadership in the farming community.
Jimmy’s heart was full, especially when it came to his family. He and his beloved wife of 67 years, Shirley Ann Stine Davis, adopted their daughters, Cynthia and Deidra, from the Gladney Home in Fort Worth when they were just infants—three years apart. He treasured his role as a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Joseph Travis and Florence Cornelia Stine; and numerous other family members. Jimmy leaves behind his devoted wife, Shirley Ann Stine Davis; his daughters, Cynthia Fregia and husband Aubrey of Raywood, Texas, and Deidra Hargrave and boyfriend James Overton of Raywood. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Justin Fregia, Kelby Bean and wife Chandra, Jacob Fregia, Jayce Fregia and wife Courtney, Ryan Stiles and wife Ashley, and Isabella Hargrave and boyfriend Evan Starling; his great-grandchildren, Steyle Spurlock, Alyssa Taylor, Brynnley Fregia, Jordan Charanza, Laynie Dryer, Adalie Fregia, Judah Fregia, Calli Stiles, Konner Taylor, Alexis Campbell, and Mason Fregia; and great-great-granddaughter Lilly Hudnall. He will also be missed by his brother, Ronnie Davis and wife Patti; nieces and nephews, Wade Davis, Ronda Davis, Mark Davis, John Stelly, Hec Etheridge, and Summa Stelly; as well as his cherished canine companions, Honey and Ginger, and a host of other relatives and friends.
