Dayton community invited to National Night Out event Tuesday night, Oct. 1

Residents of the Dayton area are invited to come out and enjoy an evening of fun, food, and community connections at this year’s National Night Out event. The gathering will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1, in the back parking lot of the Dayton Community Center.

The event is free and open to the public, and offers a unique opportunity to meet local first responders and put faces to the names of the people who serve and protect the community.

“This event is important because it gives residents a chance to get out, meet, and speak to their neighbors, as well as put a face to their local first responders,” said Dayton Police Captain Shane Burleigh.

Community members will have the chance to interact with representatives from a variety of local agencies, including: Dayton Police Department, Dayton Fire Department, Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, Liberty County District Attorney’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), Hermann Memorial LifeFlight (weather and call volume permitting, a LifeFlight helicopter will make an appearance) and LifeShare Blood Center will also be on-site, providing information about blood donations.

Dayton’s police and fire departments will be serving free hot dogs, making this a family-friendly event that offers something for everyone. The atmosphere will be one of camaraderie and fellowship, where neighbors can get to know each other and connect with the people who work every day to ensure the safety and well-being of the community.

National Night Out is a campaign that promotes community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.

“It’s a great way for people to connect with their neighbors and feel more comfortable reaching out to their local police and fire departments when they need help,” added Capt. Burleigh.
