Harry Smith

Harry Smith, 89, of Porter, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on Sept. 29, 2024. Harry Lloyd Smith was born to parents Lloyd Smith and Mary Sanders Smith on Feb. 10, 1935, in Livingston, Texas. 

A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, Harry specialized as a Dental Assistant during his time of service, attending the Army Medical Service School at Ft. Sam Houston. After his service in the Army, Harry worked for the Houston Belt and Terminal Railway for 42 years as a freight agent and was very skilled in his line of work. Harry was a member of the Porter Apostolic Pentecostal Church and was known for his strong faith in the Lord.

Harry is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Brooksie Naomi Smith; parents Lloyd and Mary Smith; sister, Evie Walker; brother Joe Hume Smith.

He is survived by his son Larry Smith and wife Teresa; grandchildren, Jennifer Lilley and husband Joey, Chrystal Henderson; Corbin Smith and girlfriend Nicole; Nicolas Smith and wife Chrystal, Weston Smith; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Jacob Lilley, Paetyn Henderson, Brielle and Ayla Smith; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends.

A visitation for Harry will be held at Porter Apostolic Pentecostal Church on Friday, Oct. 4, 2024, from 5 to 7 p.m. The funeral service will immediately follow at 7 p.m., with Brother Joel McCoy officiating. 

Harry will be laid to rest in a graveside service on Saturday, October 5th at 12:00pm at Cleveland Memorial Park in Cleveland, Texas. Serving as pallbearers for the service will be Corbin Smith, Nicolas Smith, Weston Smith, Zachary Young, Connor Pitts, Ritchie Pate.
