Beloved brother and uncle, Kenneth Ray Bracewell, of Liberty, Texas, passed away on Sept. 28, 2024.
Kenneth was born on June 21, 1936, to Lois and John Bracewell in Liberty, Texas. Kenneth excelled at everything he did. As a student, the superintendent of schools sent a letter home commending him on his performance. Kenneth served in the Army from Oct. 26, 1954, until Oct. 10, 1956. He earned awards for his marksmanship and excellence in appearance and performance. Kenneth once said that whatever he did he wanted to push himself not to be the best he could, but the best of all. He carried this attitude throughout his life.
After the military, he worked on drilling rigs as a roughneck. He worked his way up until he became the company man on the rig, this is very similar to the captain of a ship. He was valued and respected by his employer, as well as, those under his leadership. After retirement, he continued to work as a consultant. He also spent time working with his nephews at J&J Construction.
Kenneth was always willing to help others. After the death of his father, at only 15 years old he dropped out of school to help support his three younger siblings. He even petitioned his commanding officer, while overseas, to send extra money back home to care for his youngest sisters. His generous nature could be seen throughout his entire life. He faithfully donated money to numerous charities and organizations. He contributed, not only, to family and local charities, but also around the world. His generosity helped veterans, fallen police officers, disaster victims, missionaries and churches, and countless others.
He was well-loved by his family and loved them well in return. Uncle ken will never be forgotten by his many nieces, nephews and greats, whom he loved so dearly.
Kenneth is survived by his sisters Dorothy Presnull, Nancy Jackson, Gladys Huff and husband Larry and Sandra Pearce, and his brothers James Bracewell and Oran Bracewell and wife Nancy.
Honoring the family as pallbearers will be James Jackson, Johnny Jackson, Robby Jackson, Kenneth DeBerry, Jason Presnull and David Cole Edwards.
A funeral service to celebrate Kenneth’s life will be held on Monday, Oct. 7, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Street, Liberty, Texas, with Pastor Chris Contreras officiating. A graveside and committal service will follow immediately at Fairlawn Cemetery.
