The Dayton FFA kicked off its competition season with an impressive showing at the Vidor FFA Invitational LDEs, where students competed in 10 different contests. LDEs, or Leadership Development Events, provide students an opportunity to build their public speaking skills through agriculturally focused competitions.
Events include Public Relations, Ag Advocacy, Skills, and Creed Speaking, along with a Spanish division for bilingual members.
“This is just the beginning of our Dayton FFA competition season! These kids have been working so hard! We are incredibly proud of them,” stated Hali Wagner, FFA AG teacher.
Nine Dayton FFA teams placed in the top three at the invitational, with eight of them sweeping their events and taking first place. These hardworking members now turn their attention to the district competition on Nov. 5, where they’ll compete for the chance to advance to area and, potentially, state.
