Gregory McWilliams

Gregory McWilliams, 58, went home to be with the Lord on Oct. 30, 2024. Gregory was born to parents Abe Johnnie McWilliams Sr. and Liza Mae Lowe McWilliams on Aug. 25, 1966, in Jasper, Texas.

Gregory, affectionately called “Greg,” will be remembered as a people person who had a big heart. He never met a stranger and made friends anywhere he went. Greg could light up a room, and was even named the “Mayor of Brightpoint” by fellow residents. Greg was a wonderful cook and could make a mean pot of cowboy beans. He also loved Scooby-Doo and Wolves and had a collection of them. Most of all, Greg was a family man and loved all his family and friends. He spent as much time with them as he could and they were his true joy in life. He will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved him.

Greg is preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn McWilliams; parents, Abe Johnny McWilliams Sr., Liza Mae Lowe McWilliams; sister, Debbie Mae Simpson; nephews, Melvin “Buddy” Wayne Simpson, Melvin Earl Simpson Jr.; grandparents; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and other family and friends.

He is survived by his beloved daughters, Lacie McWilliams and Heather Outlaw; sisters, Sarah Jeffcoat, Arnette Greene, Earlene Matlock and husband Wesley; brother, Abe McWilliams and wife Evelyn; Grandchildren, Jonah Outlaw , Hadley Outlaw, Hannah Outlaw; Nieces and Nephews, Devon Manners Kersten, Karen Swim, Brenda Fabre, Kristie Logan, Marvin “Boy” Simpson Jr., Karrie Hill, Kay Jeffcoat, Sarah(Nay) Jeffcoat, Melinda Simpson, Jessica Martin; as well as numerous great nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends who will miss him dearly.

A visitation for Greg will be held on Sunday, Nov. 3, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Cleveland, Texas. Greg’s funeral will be held on Monday, Nov. 4, at 2 p.m., in the Pace-Stancil Chapel, with Bro. Carl Williamson officiating. The Burial is to follow at Pace-Stancil Memorial Rest Gardens in Cleveland, Texas. Serving as pallbearers will be Chance Pennington, Blake Pennington, William Hollingsworth, Jon Logan, Michael Payne, Rayford Martin. Honorary Pallbearers are Denton Lowe, Larry Lowe, David Perry.
