Jimmy Ray Pouncey Sr. was born March 27, 1945, in Rockdale, Texas, to parents, Charles Nathaniel Pouncey and Freida Ida Ludwig Pouncey. He passed away on Oct. 31, 2024, in Cleveland, Texas, at the age of 79.
Jimmy Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Freida Pouncey, brothers, Charles Pouncey Jr, Billy Pouncey. Cecil Pouncey, and Donald Pouncey; sisters, Ida Kyle, and Lucille Seivors. He is survived by his daughter, Sheila Kay Brooks and husband Keith; sons, Jimmy Ray Pouncey Jr. and wife Dana, and Tommy Wayne Pouncey; brother, Ralph Pouncey; sisters, Mildred Thomas, Clara Davis, and Ruby Pouncey; grandchildren, Keisha Collier and husband C.W., Lacrissa Brooks, Nicole Coleman, Cody Pouncey and wife Brook, Julia Lawrence and husband Jeremy, Gracie Pouncey, and Savanna Manning; great-grandchildren, Olivia Collier, Avery Brooks, Autumn Kibbler, Daniel Pouncey, Jolene Lawrence, Wyatt Pouncey, Janie Lawrence, Garrett Pouncey, Jaxon Feast, and Josie Lawrence; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Jim worked as both a carpenter and in the oil field. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and hunting. He loved running dogs back in the day. Most of his weekends were spent around family and friends, cooking, listening to music and dancing. He loved to sit around a fire, no matter what time of year. He loved his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids.
Visitation will be in the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2024, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Funeral Service will begin at 1 p.m. with C.W Collier and Keith Brooks officiating. The burial will follow at Magnolia Cemetery, 392 McAdams-Vann Rd. Evergreen, Texas, 77328. Pallbearers for the service will be Tommy Wayne Pouncey, Cody Pouncey, Christopher Rosten, Joseph Pouncey, Charlie Pouncey, and Jeremy Lawrence. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jimmy Ray Pouncey Jr, Keith Brooks, C.W. Collier, Ralph Curtis Pouncey Sr, Leo Jones, Ted Ludwig, and Curtis Pouncey.
