
Cynthia Loarine Hylton, 69, passed away peacefully after a long battle with dementia in Liberty, Texas, on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2024, with her beloved husband by her side. Cynthia was born in Liberty, Texas, on December 8, 1954, to the late Lester C. Smith and Mildred Rainwater Smith. She was a proud member of Liberty High School’s Class of 1973 and later pursued higher education at Lamar University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in 1998.
After graduating from Lamar, Cynthia dedicated herself to the Liberty Independent School District, where she worked as an elementary school teacher for 20 years until her retirement. She was a devoted teacher who loved children, especially her grandchildren. Her love for gardening and visiting with friends filled her days, and she especially enjoyed playing Bunco with her friends.
Cynthia will be remembered for her sweet and kind spirit, dedication to family, and role as the glue that held her extended family together. She was hardworking, frugal, and had a generous heart for all who knew her. Her family and friends will forever cherish the memories of her warmth, love, and laughter.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Amanda Hylton; and her brother, Leslie Smith. She is survived by her devoted husband of 50 years, Ray Hylton, Jr.; her daughter, Erin Wyllie and husband Jason of Florence, South Carolina; her son, Andrew Hylton and fiancée Lauren Beaty of Richmond, Texas; her cherished grandchildren, Vivian and Parker Wyllie; and a host of loving extended family and friends.
Friends are invited to visit with the family in the chapel of Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Street, Liberty, Texas, on Sunday, Nov. 17, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A graveside and committal service will occur at Worth Cemetery on Monday, Nov. 18, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., with Pastor Tim Gruver officiating.
Cynthia’s life was a testament to love, resilience, and the deep connections she shared with those around her. She will be greatly missed but fondly remembered by all who were blessed to know her.
