The holiday season is upon us, and the City of Cleveland is gearing up to host its annual Hometown Christmas celebration, a beloved tradition that brings the community together to embrace the magic of the season. Sponsored by Frontier Waste Solutions, this year’s event will take place on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024, with most activities centered at the Cleveland Civic Center, located at 210 Peach Avenue.
Festivities kick off at 10 a.m. with the Hometown Christmas holiday market inside the civic center ballroom. The market, which runs until 5 p.m., boasts more than 50 vendors offering a wide variety of gifts perfect for everyone on your Christmas list. Shoppers can expect unique finds, including woodworking items, custom wreaths, tumblers, Scentsy products, and more.
Outside, the holiday cheer continues with a kids zone packed with activities for the little ones. From a petting zoo and games to bounce houses, there’s plenty to keep children entertained.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, the band Tomfoolery will perform outdoors, led by Brian Garcia, the incoming board chairman of the Greater Cleveland Chamber of Commerce. Known for its energetic blend of bluegrass, folk, and rock ‘n’ roll, Tomfoolery has become a local favorite, having performed at events such as Cleveland’s Fourth of July fireworks show.
Food lovers will find an array of delicious options from food trucks stationed outside the civic center. Offerings range from classic burgers and tacos to corn in a cup, coffee, and hot chocolate, ensuring there’s something for every craving.
The day of holiday fun culminates with the highly anticipated lighted Hometown Christmas parade, beginning Saturday evening. Regina Vollmer, local realtor and a devoted volunteer for the Greater Cleveland Chamber of Commerce, has been selected by popular vote as this year’s parade marshal.
The parade will illuminate Houston Street, traveling from San Jacinto Street to Peach Avenue, with parade entries lined up near The Sanctuary Church. This year’s parade promises to be a spectacular display of holiday creativity, with more than 60 entries already signed up. For those unable to attend in person, Bluebonnet News plans to livestream the parade on Facebook, allowing everyone to experience the holiday magic.
For those interested in participating in the parade, there’s still time to sign up. Contact the Cleveland Civic Center at 281-592-2395 for more information.
