Emergency repairs to the FM 787 bridge over the Trinity River in Romayor are progressing steadily, according to a recent update from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).
The bridge, which has been closed since May 7, 2024, due to severe flooding that washed out the west-side approaches, has been undergoing critical work since September. The $11.8 million project is being handled by Ragle Construction, Inc., based in North Richland Hills, Texas.
Contractors recently completed the drill shafts on the east side of the bridge and are nearing the completion of sheet pile walls. On the west side, work on drill shafts is ongoing and is projected to wrap up by the end of the month, weather permitting. The installation of beams, a major milestone in the project, is scheduled to begin in mid-December.

TxDOT is committed to keeping the public informed throughout the duration of the repairs. Updates are regularly posted on the Beaumont District’s social media platforms, including Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and Nextdoor. Additionally, a monthly newsletter is available for those who wish to stay up-to-date on the progress. Interested individuals can subscribe by emailing Tanya Avila at tanya.avila@txdot.gov.
The FM 787 bridge serves as a vital connection for the region, and crews are working diligently to ensure its safe reopening as soon as possible.
