A major crash involving an 18-wheeler carrying propane brought traffic to a standstill on SH 321 east of Cleveland on Friday, Dec. 6. The collision occurred as construction reduced the highway to one lane, requiring vehicles to alternate directions.
Multiple vehicles reportedly were stopped in the eastbound lane awaiting instructions to proceed when the 18-wheeler driver crashed into them. The driver hit the brakes within 100 feet of the stopped traffic but reportedly was unable to avoid a collision. The tanker slammed into two pickup trucks, crushing them between the propane truck and another tanker that had also stopped in the queue.
Two individuals were critically injured in the crash and were airlifted to area hospitals for treatment. Emergency crews quickly secured the scene, and fortunately, no propane was spilled during the incident. However, the collision left a significant amount of debris scattered across the highway.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the crash. Highway 321 remains closed as crews work to clear the wreckage. Traffic is being redirected at the 105 Bypass in Cleveland and at SH 321/SH 105 near Tarkington. The road closure is expected to last until at least 5 p.m.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes. The crash occurred just east of the Ranch Hand Restaurant. Further updates will be provided as they become available.

Correct. Most truck driver’s are not truck drivers anymore. They are merely steering wheel holders. The days of professional truck drivers are long gone.
