Our beloved Rosa “Rosy” R. Lazo Funez entered God’s Kingdom on Jan. 2, 2025. She was 84 years old and was surrounded by her loving family when she passed.
Rosy was born in Tegucigalpa, Honduras on Aug. 31, 1940. From a young age, Rosy exemplified remarkable resilience, diligence and determination, as she worked alongside her mother as a street vendor, in order to provide for their family. She was a servant of the Lord and held Him deep within her heart. She sang His praises up until her final days on this earth.
Rosy was blessed with a large family that loved her dearly. She married her best friend and fellow parishioner, Rev. Manuel Antonio Lazo. Together, they raised four children with a reverent love for the Lord and dedicated them to Him. She encouraged her children to know the beauty of the Scriptures.
Rosy is preceded in death by her mother Anastasia de Jesus Funez, brother Victor Funez, sister Blanca Otilia Carbajal, husband Manuel Antonio Lazo, daughter Mildre Merari Lazo, and three children lost in their infancy. She is survived by her four children: Josué Israel Lazo, Manuel David Lazo, Martha Damaris Contreras Lazo, and Antonio Nathanael Lazo.
She is also survived by her grandchildren: Josué Israel Lazo Jr., Amanda Lamar Molina Griffin, Kaleb Jonathan Lazo, Elias Avimelec Lazo, David Eliu Lazo, Fernando Isai Contreras, Juan Carlos Lazo, Rebecca Nicole Lazo, Isaac Jonathan Contreras, Matthew David Lazo, Abigail Celeste Lazo, Sarai Elizabeth Lazo, and Isaias Benjamin Contreras.
Rosy’s passing marks the end of her earthly journey but the beginning of an eternal and beautiful journey with the Lord. She is dearly missed by her loved ones, who take comfort in the fact that she is reunited with her husband in the presence of her Creator.
The funeral will be held at Sterling Funeral Homes on Jan. 10 in Dayton, Texas. The viewing is at 5 p.m. and her celebration of life is at 6 p.m. All friends and family are welcome.

Nuestra querida, Rosa “Rosy” R. Lazo Funez, entró al Reino de Dios el 2 de enero de 2025. Tenía 84 años y estaba rodeada de muchos miembros amorosos de la familia cuando partió.
Rosy nació en Tegucigalpa, Honduras el 31 de agosto de 1940. Desde muy joven, Rosy demostró fortaleza, diligencia y determinación, trabajando junto a su madre como vendedora para ayudar a mantener a su familia. Ella fue una sierva del Señor y lo amo con toda su corazón. Cantó sus alabanzas hasta el día que se fue de esta tierra.
Rosy fue bendecida con una familia grande y amorosa. Se casó con su mejor amigo y compañero de fe, el Rev. Manuel Antonio Lazo y ayudó a criar a sus cuatro hijos con un amor grande por Dios. Desde el principio, dedicó a sus hijos al Señor y los animó a explorar la belleza de los evangelios.
En el cielo, Rosy está reunida con su madre Anastasia de Jesus Funez, hermano Victor Funez, hermana Blanca Otilia Carbajal, esposo Manuel Antonio Lazo, hija Mildre Merari Lazo, y tres hijos que se le adelantaron. Le sobreviven sus cuatro hijos: Josué Israel Lazo, Manuel David Lazo, Martha Damaris Contreras Lazo y Antonio Nathanael Lazo. También le sobreviven sus nietos: Josué Israel Lazo Jr., Amanda Lamar Molina Griffin, Kaleb Jonathan Lazo, Elias Avimelec Lazo, David Eliu Lazo, Fernando Isai Contreras, Juan Carlos Lazo, Rebecca Nicole Lazo, Isaac Jonathan Contreras, Matthew David Lazo, Abigail Celeste Lazo, Sarai Elizabeth Lazo, and Isaias Benjamin Contreras.
La partida de Rosy marca el final de su viaje terrenal – pero también marca el inicio de un hermoso y eterno camino con el Señor. La extrañamos profundamente, pero nos da consuelo que ahora está reunida con su esposo, en la presencia del Creador.
El funeral se llevará a cabo en Sterling Funeral Homes el 10 de enero en Dayton, Texas. El velatorio es a las 5 PM y la celebración de la vida es a las 6 PM. Todos los amigos y familiares son bienvenidos.
