The Snowpocalypse of 2025 blanketed Southeast Texas overnight on Jan. 21, delivering several inches of snow—a rare and magical sight for this part of the state. With roads too hazardous for travel and many businesses closed, residents found creative and entertaining ways to enjoy the unexpected winter wonderland from the comfort of home.

Bluebonnet News invited readers to share their snowy adventures, and the submissions did not disappoint. From backyard snowmen to inventive sledding escapades, the community showed off its resourcefulness and humor in making the most of this rare weather event.

Children and adults alike took to their yards and pastures, building snowmen adorned with hats and scarves. Some braved the cold to create snow angels, while others brought out kayaks and ATVs to craft homemade sled rides.

Southeast Texans turned an icy inconvenience into a day of fun, laughter, and cherished memories. Whether it was capturing snow-covered landscapes, family moments, or quirky snow-day inventions, readers certainly delivered a visual celebration of this historic snowfall.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the call for photos. Now stay warm and stay safe. The snow will be melting soon, which could create another hazard with icy roadways.
