Repairs on the FM 787 bridge over the Trinity River near Romayor continue to advance, with progress made in January despite challenges from cold weather, rain and snow.
The bridge, closed since May 7, 2024, after severe flooding washed out the eastern and western approaches, is now tentatively slated for completion in March 2025.
- West Side Progress: In January, contractors completed the west side of the new bridge deck in late December and moved forward with constructing the approach slab. They have since begun installing the forms for the bridge rail.
- East Side Developments: Crews finished setting the deck panels on the east side and are currently placing the steel for the deck on spans eight and nine.

Just before Thanksgiving, crews achieved a major milestone by setting bridge beams for the new spans on the east side. However, recent rain and cold temperatures have slowed progress, pushing the completion timeline to March 2025.
The $11.8 million repair project began in September 2024 with the removal of damaged sections on the west side of the bridge. The FM 787 bridge serves as a crucial route for residents and businesses in the area, making its restoration a top priority.
Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes and stay informed about further updates.
