Laura “Kaye” Porter

Laura “Kaye” Porter, born on Jan. 28, 1958, in Beaumont, passed away on Feb. 5, 2025, in Dayton. She was a dedicated educator who spent many years teaching at Anahuac ISD, Dayton ISD, and Cleveland ISD, inspiring countless students with her passion for learning. Kaye held a Master’s Degree in Education, reflecting her commitment to education and the enrichment of young minds.

 Kaye was a member of the First Methodist Church, where her contributions and community spirit were felt by many. In her leisure time, she enjoyed visiting casinos, embarking on cruises, and indulging in her love for fishing, experiences that brought her much joy and happiness.

 She is survived by her beloved children, Laura Porter and Kristi Dillow, and her husband, Tyson. Kaye was also a proud grandmother to Kaden Meyer, Keeli Duhon and her husband, Mason, Kasidy Porter, Chazz Aguilera, Hunter Satchwell, and Hannah Satchwell and her longtime best friend and travel buddy Robyn Richter. The family was further blessed with the presence of her great-grandson, Ryder Meyer.

 Kaye is also remembered by her brother, Norman Abshere, and his wife, Sheila, as well as her former son-in-law, Nolberto Aguilera. She will be deeply missed by numerous nieces, nephews, family members, and friends who were fortunate to share in her life.

 She was preceded in death by her parents, Norman C. Abshere and Robbie Lee Kimmey Abshere, her daughter Jessie Porter, and her granddaughter Kitana Aguilera.

 A memorial service celebrating Kaye’s life will be held on Feb. 11, 2025, from 2 to 3 p.m. at the First Methodist Church of Dayton, located at 106 S Cleveland St., Dayton, TX 77535.

 Kaye Porter’s impact on those around her will be fondly remembered, and her loving spirit will live on through her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
