
Raymond “Ray” Lee LaBuff, 71, of Dayton, Texas, passed away peacefully on Feb. 7, 2025. He was born on Nov. 12, 1953, to LV LaBuff and Peggy Littlefield LaBuff.
He attended Barbers Hill High School, Ray built a successful career as a safety manager, dedicating his time to ensuring the well-being of those around him. His leadership and commitment to safety earned him the respect of colleagues and friends alike.
Ray was a man who found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He cherished his daily coffee gatherings with friends at Brookshire Bros., McDonald’s, and the Senior Service Center, always ready with a story or a joke to share. He had a deep love for animals, especially his donkeys, whom he treated to oatmeal pies and honey buns, and his beloved fur baby, Eddie. Ray was a devoted member of Trinity Baptist Church and Maple St. Church of Christ. His faith guided his life, and he found great comfort in his church families and the friendships he built within them.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, LV and Peggy LaBuff; his loving wife, Vickie LaBuff; and his brother, Elvis LaBuff. He is survived by his daughters, Jacee Moritz and husband Daniel, and Amy LaBuff; his grandchildren, Jocelyn LaBuff, Jamie Piriz, Jacob Randel, Jessica Juarez, and Hunter Moritz; his brothers, Roy LaBuff and wife Bebe, and Tracy LaBuff and wife Twila; his sisters, Shele LaBuff and Phylis Mathews; and his sister-in-law, Jeanie LaBuff.
Ray will be remembered for his kind heart, sense of humor, and the love he shared with his family and friends. His presence will be dearly missed, but his memory will live on in the lives he touched.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2025, from 2 to 4 p.m., at Sterling Funeral Home 602 N. Main St. Dayton, Texas, followed by the funeral service at 4 p.m.
