Seniors and caregivers invited to learn about resources at H-GAC event

The Houston-Galveston Area Council’s Area Agency on Aging (AAA) is coming to Liberty County to educate older adults, caregivers, and healthcare professionals about available services and gather community feedback for future programs.

In partnership with the Cleveland Senior Citizens Organization, the AAA will host a public meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 19, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Cleveland Senior Citizens Organization, located at 220 Peach Ave., Cleveland, Texas.

“We’re looking forward to visiting Liberty County to learn what services and programs older adults need and want,” said Curtis Cooper, senior manager of the Houston-Galveston Area Agency on Aging. “We believe it’s important to keep up with the changing times and needs of the individuals we serve.”

The meeting will provide an overview of the programs and resources currently available to older adults, caregivers, and healthcare professionals. It will also serve as an opportunity for community members to share their thoughts on additional services they would like to see implemented.

The Houston-Galveston Area Agency on Aging provides essential services to adults aged 60 and over, helping them remain safe, healthy, and independent in their communities. Through partnerships with local organizations and volunteers, the agency offers assistance with meal programs, transportation, caregiver support, health and wellness initiatives, and in-home services.

The organization serves a 12-county region along the Texas Gulf Coast, including Liberty, Austin, Brazoria, Chambers, Colorado, Fort Bend, Galveston, Matagorda, Montgomery, Waller, Walker, and Wharton counties. Harris County residents receive services through the Harris County Area Agency on Aging.
