The Dayton Broncos boys basketball team has clinched a spot in the UIL state playoffs for the first time since 2017. The Broncos also finished the regular season 20-12, making them the first Dayton team to record 20 wins since 2015.
Head Coach Rodrick Bankhead reflected on the team’s achievement, saying, “This season our team motto was ‘We Believe.’ We set a goal for ourselves this season to get one of the top four spots and promised to never stop chasing it until the job was done.”
The Broncos secured third place in district play to earn a playoff berth.
“This is the most complete team we’ve had in a long time, and it’s led by eight seniors who all played together on the same team since eighth grade. I am very proud of them,” Bankhead said.
Coach Bankhead also expressed gratitude to his assistant coaches—Kyle McBride, Nirada Clay, and Caleb Adams—as well as to everyone who supported the team this season.
