Donna Kathleen Landers, 75, of Dayton, passed away Thursday, Feb. 20, 2025, in The Woodlands, after a short illness.
Donna was born Aug. 16, 1949, in Minden, Louisiana, to parents, David Colbert and Anna Louise Dewey Landers. She was a former resident of Baytown but has resided in Dayton for the past 48 years. She was a 1967 graduate of Minden High School, where she was the Tide Talk Editor. She retired after being HR manager from Champion Paper Mill and Jindal Saw, and member of First Methodist Church of Dayton. Donna also enjoyed reading, crocheting, raising llamas and especially taking care of her family.
She preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her daughter: Wendy Bode and husband Rodney, son, Weston Holley, sisters, Valorie Landers and Bonnie Flurry and husband Charlie, grandchildren: Nikki Parker and fiancé Beau Nichols, Brittany Holcomb and companion Allen Forrest, and Angelica Holley, extended family: Blair Sthram, great-grandchildren: Scarlett McMahan, Calvann McMahan, and Kenzie Holcomb, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Donna loved like no other – She welcomed so many into her family, including foster children and friends and family when they needed her to. She solved many of their problems with homemade fudge, oatmeal/chocolate cookies and cinnamon toast. Her love of animals brought many stray pets that became a part of the family as well.
She got a love of cars from her father and that continued throughout her lifetime. Even owning a bright red 1976 Camero that made her CB handle “Red Turtle” appropriate. While she didn’t drive fast, she like to drive fast cars.
She will be missed by all that loved her and we will always strive to make her proud of her legacy of love and care she taught us.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2025, at the Sterling Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 27, 2025, at the Minden City Cemetery in Minden, Louisiana.
