Just after midnight on Feb. 23, 2025, deputies from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a shooting at The Goose’s Acre in The Woodlands. Upon arrival, they discovered three victims—two men, ages 31 and 29, and a 27-year-old woman—suffering from gunshot wounds. Witnesses at the scene provided immediate medical aid before all three victims were transported to local hospitals for treatment.
Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office Homicide and Violent Crimes Division have since identified the suspect as 27-year-old Calvin Rudi Sanders of Houston, Texas.
Investigators determined that the shooting stemmed from a verbal altercation between Sanders and another male patron. The exchange escalated into a physical confrontation, during which Sanders pulled out a handgun and opened fire, striking his intended target and injuring two bystanders.
Bystanders at the scene intervened, subduing Sanders until law enforcement arrived. He sustained injuries during the altercation and was transported to a separate hospital for treatment before being taken into custody. Sanders is currently being held at the Montgomery County Jail on three counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, with bond set at $300,000.
Authorities emphasize that there is no ongoing threat to the public. The investigation remains active as detectives work to piece together the circumstances surrounding the incident.
“We understand that situations like this create fear and uncertainty in our community, and we want to reassure the public that we are fully committed to maintaining safety and holding the suspect accountable,” the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office stated.
