In February 2025, the Chambers County District Attorney’s Office requested investigative assistance from the Mont Belvieu Police Department Criminal Investigations Division into new evidence of possible incidents of sexual assault of a child that occurred in 2022 and 2023.
These allegations were connected to a previously investigated case of an improper relationship between an educator and a student, which was handled by the Barbers Hill ISD Police Department in 2023.
Mont Belvieu police detectives, working with investigators from the Chambers County District Attorney’s Office, conducted additional investigation and interviews.
On Wednesday, Feb. 26, detectives obtained two separate felony arrest warrants for Molly Colleen Spears, 35, of Baytown, Texas, on two charges of sexual assault of a child. Each warrant carried a $100,000 bond.
Spears was arrested without incident early Thursday morning by Mont Belvieu police detectives. She was processed at the Mont Belvieu Police Department before being transferred to the Chambers County Jail.
Mont Belvieu Police Chief Jimmy Ellison expressed appreciation for the interagency collaboration in the case.
Chambers County District Attorney Cheryl Lieck Henry also commended the efforts, stating, “Chambers County is blessed with law enforcement teams that care about kids and working together to ensure justice. My office is grateful for the collaboration exhibited here.”
Due to the sensitive and active nature of this investigation and the age of the victim, no further information will be released at this time. Media inquiries should be directed to Chief Jimmy Ellison at jellison@montbelvieu.net.
