On Jan. 23, 1940, Madie Olivan Speights “Snow” was one of seven children born to the late Alvin and Madie V. Speights.

In her early years, Snow attended B.O. Davis, in Hankamer, before attending and graduating from George Washington Carver. Shortly thereafter, she attended Lee College where she received a Certificate in Hotel and Restaurant Culinary Arts in 1969. Beyond college, Snow went on to become employed by US Steel where she remained for many years until the company dissolved in the 1980s. Later, she took on the role of caring for her mother and father until they went home to be with the Lord.

Her love for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was developed at an early age while serving as an active member of Sunlight Missionary Baptist Church for over 60 years. During those years, she faithfully served as a church secretary, choir member, Vacation Bible School teacher, and Sunday School Superintendent.

Snow’s devotion to Christ and family was evident and witnessed by four generations of nieces and nephews that she helped raise and a host of family and friends. She found joy in prayer, strength in scripture, and peace in the promises of eternal life.

She was proceeded in death by her parents Alvin Speights and Madie V. Richardson, four brothers; Ross Cornelius Speights “R.C.”, Calvin Speights, Jeff V. Speights “JV”, and Roy E. Speights; Two sisters; Camilla M. Carrington, and Winnie B. Speights, and a host of other relatives.

She leaves cherishable memories for Niece, Ida Mae Boykin; Great-Nieces, Tiffney Phillips (Tony), Brittany Mayes; Great-Nephew, Timothy Mayes (Tasha) and many other beloved nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
