A fisherman discovered human remains Monday afternoon in a wooded area off U.S. Highway 59, just north of the State Highway 105 intersection in Cleveland, authorities said.
According to Cleveland Police Chief Darrel Broussard, the young fisherman was accessing the east fork of the San Jacinto River around 2:46 p.m. on Monday, March 3, when he stumbled upon what appeared to be badly decomposed human remains.
He immediately notified authorities, and Cleveland police detectives responded to investigate.

Broussard said the area where the body was found is prone to flooding during heavy rains and is also near a location where homeless individuals are known to camp. Investigators will work to determine whether any known homeless individuals in the area have been reported missing.
The remains will be sent to Beaumont for an autopsy, but forensic testing will be necessary to confirm the person’s identity, a process Broussard said could take several months.
Anyone with information relevant to the case is urged to contact the Cleveland Police Department at 281-592-2622.

Not long ago searchers found a van that had washed down from low water bridge rd but did not find the person this would be a short distance from that
Agree with Jack Long. It’s terrible but it would bring closure.
Could they tell if the person was male or female?
From what I read on another article they said it was unknown if male or female. And that it was a small framed person.
I wonder if it could be John Bradley Benford, his vehicle was swept away just be mile or so up the river off CR 388 during the flooding in May of 2024, they found the vehicle but not Mr. Benford.
