A fugitive accused of a deadly mass shooting that claimed multiple lives and injured several others is now behind bars, thanks to the swift and coordinated efforts of law enforcement.
On March 8, 2025, members of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and Conroe Police Department, working alongside the U.S. Marshals in the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders and Fugitive Task Force, apprehended 19-year-old Trea’land Ty’rell Castille.
Castille, who was wanted on multiple homicide and assault charges, was found hiding at an apartment complex in South Montgomery County and taken into custody. He is currently held in the Montgomery County Jail, awaiting extradition.
Castille was the subject of an intensive manhunt following a mass shooting during a Mardi Gras celebration in Evangeline Parish, Louisiana. The attack left multiple victims dead or wounded. He faces the following charges:
- Two counts of first-degree murder
- Ten counts of second-degree murder
- Five counts of aggravated assault with a firearm

The violent attack shocked the Louisiana community, leaving devastation in its wake. Castille had been on the run since the shooting, but his attempt to evade justice ended in Montgomery County.
Sheriff Doolittle issued a stern warning:
“Criminals who think they can come here to hide or bring violence into our community better think again. This arrest sends a strong and unwavering message—we do not tolerate violent offenders in Montgomery County. If you commit heinous crimes and believe you can escape justice, we will find you. Our law enforcement agencies stand united in the pursuit of law and order, and we will work tirelessly to protect our citizens and bring offenders to justice.”
