Mary Eddins passed away on March 11, 2025, after a brief illness. She was born Mary Magdalene Hourigan on September 9, 1949, in New Albany, Indiana, to Francis and Edward Hourigan. She moved to Texas when she was six and grew up in Sheldon.
She was a graduate of C.E. King High School, Class of 1968. She married Ronnie Eddins, and they made their home and raised their daughter in Sheldon, and later moved to Dayton, Texas in 2000. After years of being a homemaker, Mary worked as a receptionist for 17 years at VAMUSA, where she was a favorite among the employees. After retirement, she became a realtor for Jane Byrd Properties Int’l and made many friends along the way. She loved spending time with her family, having lunches, and everyday conversations with her sister Corkey.
She loved music and the holidays, decorating and looking pretty. She loved to hear her husband and daughter sing. One of her greatest joys was being a Mimi to her grandson, Levi. They spent countless hours together, attached at the hip. Mary was a beautiful, loving, caring, giving, loyal, thoughtful, selfless woman. She always went the extra mile for those she loved.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Francis Hourigan; father, Edward Hourigan; and husband of 45 years, Ronnie Eddins. She is survived by her daughter, Monica Eddins of Ingram, Texas; sister, Corkey Hourigan and partner Danny Selph of Sheldon, Texas; brother, Roger Hourigan and wife Brenda of Woodville, Texas; grandson, Levi Johnson of Ingram, Texas; niece, Casie Hourigan of Houston, Texas; nephew Corey Hourigan of Colorado; best friend of 30 years, Mack Johnson; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
