With the community-wide event less than a month away, time is running out for churches to partner with GO TELL SETX, a four-night evangelistic crusade set for April 13-16 at Liberty Memorial Stadium, located at the northeast corner of Bowie and Grand in Liberty, Texas.
Evangelist Rick Gage and his GO TELL AMERICA team have led “Billy Graham-type” crusades in smaller communities for more than 30 years. They have been invited to hold an event in the area to reach Liberty, Dayton and surrounding communities.
“With 35 area churches already involved, we have broad support in the Christian community,” said David Williams, crusade chairman and director of missions for Trinity River Baptist Association. “But our goal has always been for every Christian church to take advantage of this once-in-a-generation opportunity for the body of Christ to work together to reach our whole community for Jesus.
“If your church believes the Bible is God’s word and that faith in Jesus Christ, the risen Son of God, is the only way to be saved and have eternal life, then we encourage your church to sign up as a participating church.”
While the event is open to the entire community—and is expected to draw as many as 1,000 people each evening—churches that become participating churches will see the greatest benefit.
“Partner churches are those that say, ‘We’re all in,’ and commit to pray, promote, participate and provide financial support for the event,” Williams said. “The amount of financial support is entirely up to each church. Some are choosing to give from the resources God has already provided the church; others will simply ask their members to give a freewill offering for the crusade on Challenge Sunday, March 30, and that will be the church’s financial contribution.”
Ways to get involved
There are several ways for members of partner churches to participate. Printed materials are available for pickup at Trinity River Baptist Association, 2401 Grand Ave., Liberty. To arrange for pickup, call Jeanette Taylor at 281-380-3329.
- Prayer – Churches are encouraged to pray for the crusade during Bible study classes, worship services and other gatherings. Special prayer times should focus on salvation for the lost in the community.
- Promotion – Each participating church can pick up posters and bulletin inserts to promote the event within their congregation.
- Personal outreach – “Each One Reach One” commitment bookmarks are available for distribution, encouraging members to pray for lost individuals, invite them to the crusade and bring them.
- Door-to-door outreach – Partner churches can pick up printed invitations to distribute to homes in their area.
- Choir – A community choir will perform Sunday evening. Rehearsals are 3-4:30 p.m. on March 30 and April 6 at First Baptist Church in Liberty.
- Counseling – Many counselors will be needed to assist those who make decisions for Christ during the crusade. To serve as a counselor, members of participating churches must attend a training session, complete an application and be approved. Training sessions are scheduled for 6-9 p.m. Monday, March 24, and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 12, at Hardin Baptist Church.
- Follow-up – During daily lunches from Monday to Thursday during the crusade, participating churches will receive follow-up information about decisions made the previous evening so they can invite individuals to their church and disciple them.
