The Dayton Rotary Club recently hosted a new fundraising event to support scholarships for seniors at Dayton High School. The event featured two prizes: a Polaris Sportsman 450 H.O. 4-wheeler as the grand prize and a Polaris cooler as the runner-up. Only 200 tickets were printed, giving participants better odds of winning.
During the annual Gumbo Luncheon, the club went live on Facebook as former Rotarian and Dayton City Councilman John Headrick selected the winning tickets. Congratulations to Joe Graves, who won the 4-wheeler, and Marie Hanel, who won the Polaris cooler.
The Dayton Rotary Club extended its gratitude to everyone who supported the fundraiser. President Stephanie Montgomery said, “We are grateful to everyone who purchased tickets and are pleased to continue this long-standing tradition of contributing to our community and supporting our students. Congratulations to both of our winners!”

Rotary Treasurer Elizabeth Robertson also expressed appreciation, saying, “We would like to extend a special thank you to Gene’s Powersports Country for their collaboration with the Rotary Club on the purchase of the 4-wheeler. They were a pleasure to work with.”
Montgomery also thanked Rotarians, former Rotarians and friends who contributed to the success of the gumbo luncheon.
“It was a significant achievement, and the weather was ideal for enjoying hot gumbo! Our club takes great pleasure in organizing this annual event, though it does require considerable effort. We are fortunate to have such dedicated Rotarians and friends who assist in making our gumbo luncheon a success,” said Montgomery.
